Please read these Terms of Use before using St. Jude’s social media sites. By using the sites, you agree to be bound by these terms of use. If you do not agree to these terms of use, please exit the sites. We reserve the right, at our discretion, to modify, add or delete portions of these terms at any time by posting updated terms of use on the St. Jude social media sites. Please check these terms frequently for updates. Any modifications, additions or deletions to these terms shall be effective immediately upon posting of updated Terms of Use. Your continued use of the sites following the posting of updated terms of use will mean that you agree to the Terms of Use.
If you use the sites, including by participation in the St. Jude social media sites or other areas of the St. Jude Web Sites or by submission of comments, messages, e-mails, or other information via social media sites, you must follow these rules:
1.While we do not seek to limit expression of ideas, certain materials and language will not be tolerated. You may not post or transmit any material or links to material that is libelous, defamatory, false, obscene, indecent, lewd, violent, abusive, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, in violation of the law of that constitutes hate speech.
2. You may only post, upload or transmit materials for which you have the copyright or other permission to distribute electronically citing the original source. You may not violate, plagiarize, or infringe on the rights of third parties, including copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy, personal, publicity, moral or proprietary rights. You promise and represent that any posted, uploaded, include or transmitted materials will be owned by you or in the public domain.
3. You may not post, create, upload or transmit any software or other material which contains a virus or other harmful code or device. You may not use the sites to distribute chain letters or messages, mass mailings or “spam” to gather e-mail addresses for the purpose of sending “spam” to other users on St. Jude’s social media sites.
4. By posting, uploading or transmitting any material on or through St. Jude’s social media sites, you hereby grant St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, copy, sublicense, transmit, modify, publicly perform or display that material, and your name and location (city, state and/or country), if you provide that information to use, in connection with that material, in all media, whether or not now known.
5. In compliance with HIPAA laws and our strict patient policies, patient families should refrain from disclosing their relationship with patients in videos, photos, or in a patient story hosted on our social media sites. Patients and their families must not disclose other identifiable information about the patient including last name, street address, etc. Messages in the public domain (comments, “tagged” photos and videos) will be closely monitored to ensure they are in full compliance with St. Jude’s privacy policies.
6. Users participating on St. Jude’s social media sites are subject to the age restrictions set forth on the respective site for use.
7. You hereby agree to comply with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s linking policy found below.
Linking Policy
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital ordinarily does not prohibit links to its Web site, provided that any such link does not improperly connote an endorsement by or affiliation with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or otherwise adversely impact St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and pursuant to the terms below.

If you are interested in linking to St. Jude's Web site, please notify St. Jude by sending an e-mail to privacy@stjude.org. Include your name, your organization name, contact information (such as a phone number and/or e-mail address) as well as the URL of your site and a list of any URLs from which you intend to link to St. Jude's Web site.
By linking to any page on St. Jude's Web site, you hereby agree to be bound by the terms and conditions as set forth below:
- Links may be text-based using the words: "St. Jude Children's Research Hospital" or "stjude.org" (the "Licensed Marks").
- You may not use the St. Jude logo (the silhouette of a child over an arc) as a link, but you may use one of our approved public service announcements (PSA) available on our Web site www.stjude.org/social). By linking, you acknowledge and agree that, other than as set forth herein, all rights to the Licensed Marks, other St. Jude marks, the content appearing on the St. Jude Web site and the design of the St. Jude Web site belong to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
- You may not create frames around St. Jude's Web pages or use other techniques that alter in any way the visual presentation or appearance of St. Jude's Web site.
- You must not misrepresent your relationship with St. Jude or present false or misleading impressions about St. Jude. No links to St. Jude's Web site may be used in a manner that implies or suggests that St. Jude approves or endorses you, your Web site or your goods and services (in all cases, except as St. Jude may have agreed separately with you in writing).
- You may not use our logo on external Web sites and on social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, or YouTube. As an alternative, feel free to use our banner ads, which contain our mark within the pre-approved Public Service Announcement ads. You can find the approved materials here.
- St. Jude Children's Research Hospital shall have no responsibility or liability for any content appearing on your Web site. You agree to indemnify and defend St. Jude Children's Research Hospital against all claims arising out of or based upon your Web site.
- No link(s) may appear on any page on your Web site or within any context containing content or materials that may be interpreted as libelous, obscene or criminal, or which infringes, otherwise violates, or advocates the infringement or other violation of, any third party rights.
- St. Jude Children's Research Hospital may at any time, in its sole discretion, without cause, terminate the license granted herein to use the Licensed Marks and your right to link to any pages on the St. Jude Web site. In such event upon request, you agree to immediately remove all links to St. Jude's Web site and to cease using the Licensed Marks.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital reserves the right to change this linking policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page.
8. You are solely responsible for any content created, posted, uploaded, or transmitted using your account. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has the right (but not the obligation) to delete any material or user that it deems, it its sole discretion, to be in violation of these Terms of Use, or which it otherwise, in its sole discretion, considers to be objectionable.
9. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is not responsible or liable for any materials posted or transmitted on or through its social media sites nor is it responsible for any materials its subscribers or “friends” post, upload or transmit on their sites. St. Jude cannot verify the accuracy of statements that users place on or through the social media sites, and does not guarantee that any material has been posted or transmitted with the permission of the copyright or proprietary owner or is otherwise in compliance with these Terms of Use.
10. You acknowledge we may change or delete content or features of St. Jude’s social media sites in any way, at any time, and for any reason or no reason.
11. By using and participating in St. Jude’s social media sites, you agree to abide by these rules set forth herein. You acknowledge that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has the right to delete material that it deems, in its sole discretion, to be in violation of these Terms of Use, or which it otherwise, in its sole discretion, considers to be objectionable. You further acknowledge that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has the right to limit, terminate, or block access to its social media sites for any reason, including violation of these Terms of Use.
You represent and warrant that (a) any material you post, upload or transmit on or through St. Jude’s social media sites does not and will not violate any of these Terms of Use, and (b) your use of its social media sites complies with these Terms of Use. You agree that you will indemnify and hold harmless St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and its directors, officers, employees, members, volunteers, and licensees from any and all claims, liabilities, costs or expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from (1) your breach of any of the above representations and warranties, (2) your use of St. Jude’s social media sites, (3) the materials you have posted, uploaded, or transmitted in through the social media sites, or (4) St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s publication, distribution or use of such materials.
